Today I share with you my first experience with acrylic paints. It was a fun time! The paints were opaque and they dried permanently after I applied them to the paper. Unlike watercolor or gouache, the previous layers were not disturbed by the new layers of paint. The paint had a plastic consistency to it and after drying it was shiny and bright. If you prefer paints with a matte finish, acrylic paints might not be the ones for you. I also found it more difficult to paint the little details because these paints were so thick!
If you want to get a better understanding of how acrylic paints work, you can check the video below where I recorded my painting process.
In case you are still unsure whether acrylic paints are right for you, I suggest you try them. Perhaps they are not your cup of tea, or perhaps you might find your new favorite medium!
